My passion is landscape photography and I specialize in capturing the night sky, Aurora borealis in particular.
Living above the arctic circle in Northern Norway offers some unique opportunities as a photographer, the midnight sun during summer and Aurora borealis which can frequently be seen here during winter time.
Photography to me is art, it is about capturing a moment in time and the feel of that moment, it is an escape from everyday life and that is what I try to incorporate into my images.
I started out photographing in July 2011 when I bought my first dslr camera, I was also drawing at the time, so I took very few images until October 2012 when I witnessed one of the most powerful displays of the Northern Lights I have ever seen, from that moment I knew the direction the rest of my life would go.
Those magic moments I was capturing did not come out as I wanted it with the camera I had then and I decided to invest in a better camera, able to make those moments come out as I was seeing them.
After about a week with my new camera I captured a really rare kind of Aurora, more colourful and vivid than I have ever seen, the image Aurora Brutality which also got shortlisted for Astronomy Photographer of the year 2013 was a kind of turning point, I knew I was able to do captures of high quality and from there on out I have not had a moment of doubt of where I was going as a Photographer.
Editing of images is a part of being a photographer, I approach each image individually so I can as best as possible reflect what was seen as well as the mood of the moment.
High quality is important to me, the human eye can discern an incredible amount of details, that is reflected in my photography, so I shoot with the best possible equipment I can afford, and I can easily sacrifice other things to be able to do so.
The journey and the experiences that follows is what I can share through photography, and every view of my images is someone tagging along for part of that journey, and to that I thank you.
